I love Disney films! It may sound a little childish, but I enjoy watching them. In my opinion, one of the best films by this company is UP! I find it very amusing and it tells a pleasant story… Everything starts when Carl Fredricksen, a young explorer, falls in love with a girl called Ellie who likes adventure as well. They both admire Charles Muntz, a courageous man who wants to explore the world in his balloon. Carl and Ellie get married, and they start to save money by keeping it in a big jar. They want to travel to South America, to visit Paradise Falls. However, they have to spend the money on other things, and Ellie dies before their dreams come true. Carl is now an elderly man that sells color balloons. When some people from the city hall warn him that his house is going to be pulled down, he realizes it’s time to travel to the place where Ellie and him would have wanted to be. For that reason, he makes his house fly, lifted up by thousand of hellium balloons. Nevertheless, as soon as he starts his journey in his particular flying house, someone knocks on the door. It’s Russell, a little scout who wants to help old people. Carl has to let Russell go with him, although he wanted to go on that trip alone. They land on South America, but they must make it to Paradise Falls. They have to pull the house to that place, because Carl keeps all of Ellie’s things inside it. While they’re walking, they make new friends. One of them is a big and strange exotic bird of many colors, which Russell calls “Kevin”. They also come across an amusing dog, which can talk through its collar. Its name is Dug. However, things get complicated when they discover that Charles Muntz, the explorer who Carl admired, is looking for Kevin in order to capture it. Charles is the inventor of Dug’s collar, and he has got a lot of other dogs that chase Carl, Russel, Dug and Kevin, trying to catch the weird bird. Finally, they manage to keep Kevin away from Charles and his dogs, and they leave the house close to Paradise Falls. This way, Ellie and Carl’s dream comes true. Carl, Russell and Dug return to the United States, and the young scout receives a badge for his courage and help to Mr. Fredricksen. Almudena Lagares Velasco
